I know so many that have a servant's heart. Everywhere they go and everyone they see, their desire is to make another's day better than what it would have been otherwise. This is something I have a deep desire of having. With Thanksgiving approaching, having a servant's heart has been on my mind more.
Each of us want to spend time with our own family for Thanksgiving. Yet, there are so many others that have no one. This year, I am fortunate that all those whom I normally serve for my job are fortunate enough to have family to spend the day with. Honestly, it has been impossible to find someone to allow me to do my job on this year's Thanksgiving.
Although I will miss being with my family if any come along between now and Thanksgiving, a servant's heart would make me feel honored, if the need arises, to share a short amount of time with someone who has no one.
One of our Thanksgiving traditions is taking plates to those who have no family or who can not prepare the meal for themselves. This is one of the things that I regret not being able to do should my work responsibilities consume the time needed to prepare for my family and those whom I would deliver meals to.
So, I encourage those who are able to share with those less fortunate, those who can not prepare their own meals due to physical or financial limitations, to do what I may not be able to do - share your Thanksgiving meal.
We have so much to be thankful for on this holiday that we tend to think is for just our own families. This year, let's all give someone else just one more thing to be thankful for.
Happy Thanksgiving!
